Show Candidates Nominated by Parties, City Councilmen Political parties met last ' Thursday night to nominate candidates for the three city councilman positions which are to be filled in the coming November 4 election. Three parties nominated candidates and two write-in candidates are also to be on the ballot, according to Mark Johnson, city recorder. Une casuany in me election so far will b Don Fenton, who was nominated on the Peoples party ticket. Mr. Fenton is an employee of the United States government and comes under the Hatch Act and with a national political party in the local race (American Party) stood a chance of losing his job if he ran. He therefore has, withdrawn from the race and (he party chairman, l.ynn Zufelt will pick another candidate can-didate from those who lost at the nominating meeting. The other two Peoples party candidates are Grant Atwood and John Huntsman, w ho is an incumbent. Hoprescnting the Citizens party will be Gail Christiansen, Cont Jones and Jack West Jr. Party chairman who was reelect"d is Michael Vicchrilli. The American Party nominated Delmar II. Reay, Wayne Burr and William G. Keel. Mrs. Douglas Benson is chairman of (he Pleasant Grove American Party. Write-in Candidates Write-in candidates, if that is what you call them, are Grant Loader and Robert Williams. Both local people went out and got enough voter support on petitions to have their name added to the ballot on November. Holdover councilmen coun-cilmen on the city council are Frank Mills and K. Mark Bezzant. Councilmen whose terms expire this year are Neil Fugal, Citizens Party, D. Ford West, and John Huntsman, both of the Peoples Party. I.intlon candidates In Lindon, Progressive Party nominating meeting will be held Thursday Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lindon City Building. 3 councilmen will be nominated for four year terms. Stan Walker is chairman of the Progressive Party and urges all Lindon citizens to come out and support their city and the candidates of their choice. The Citizens Party of Lindon, under the chairmanship of Lon Hooley held their meeting last night (Wednesday) and the results were too late for this edition of the Review. Candidates Can-didates for both Lindon parties and for the nominee to be selected by Mr. Zuflet for the vacant P.G. slot will be announced an-nounced in next week's Review. |
