Harvey presided over a very spiritual and well attended Stake Con-ference in the Timpanogos Stake Center. Speakers were vey impress-ive in showing that the an-swers to the problems facing the youth and families today can be found in the Church and Gospel of Jesus Christ. Presi-dent Harvey summed it up in the statement "The test of our faith is how we live." The Saturday evening sess-ion featured a film showing the function and purpose of the Youth Leadership Committee, and a panel discussion on youth and family problems. He is now work-ing as a lineman in Orem. He has worked on various Union positions in Local 57 - Interna-tional Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and is now chairman of the Journeyman Lineman Examining Board. Active in the LDS Church, he has served in various pos-itions and is presently second counselor in the Fourth Ward bishopric. He served as dele-gate to state and county Repub-lican conventions in 1968. Parry to Wed in Salt Lake Temple on Nov. 19 The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Cedar City High School. He is at present a student at Southern Utah State College. He has filled an LDS mission in South Germany The young couple are plan-ning a Nov. 19 wedding in the Salt Lake Temple. A wedding reception will be held in their honor that same evening in the Orem Ward Cultural Hall. They will make their first home in Cedar City. Mrs. John V. Wright of Or-em is announcing the engage-ment and forthcoming mar-riage of her daughter Carol to Stanley W. Parry. Mr. Parry is the son of Dixon Parry of Cedar City and Mrs. Marjorie Parry of San Diego, Calif. Car-ol is also the daughter of the late John V. Wright. Miss Wright is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. She re-ceived a B.A. degree in Eng-lish from Southern Utah State College last June. She has al--' so studied at BYU. Cora Bezzant was Captain Alta Hone conducted and minutes were read by.Mrs. Bezzant. The lesson on William Draper, was given by Cleone Langley. Gertrude Richards also gave a very interesting report of her trip to Europe. Present were Alta Hone, La-cy White, Chloe Shipley, Cora Bezzant, Beth Wright, Ruth Bezzant, Merle Tomlinson, Cle-one Langley, Ida West, Vivian Evans, Lucille Walker, Gen-eve Warnick, Thelma Remmele and Susie Church. AF Senior Citizens Hear Book Review Last Week A large group of American Fork Senior Citizens met at their recreation hall Wednes-day afternoon to hear Mrs. Harold Walker review a recent book, "My Life in Soviet Rus-sia," written by a young Rus-sian who escaped to America during the Russian Revolution. The book shows what life is like when Communists gain control of a country. The Com-munist plan is to take over America by 1973. Owen Humphries, senior cit-izens chairman for American Fork was in charge of the pro-gram and introduced Mrs. Walker. LDS Sociables Are Dancing Every Saturday Evening LDS Sociables are still dan-cing every Saturday night in the Lindon Cultural Hall ac-cording to Charles Adams, di-rector of the dances. Every-one eligible to belong is wel-come to come out, Mr. Adams stated. Next Thursday, Oct. 28, a big special Barn Dance will be held at Cherry Hill Barn in Lake-vie- Square dancing will be the order of the day. Also on Saturday, Oct. 30, a Halloween Dance will be held with costumes if desired, and a prize for best costume will be given.
