Show PG City Fathers Meet in Session Monday Night The first matters of business were presented to the council by Kay Jacobs and William E. Petersen of the Bank of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove at the city council meeting held Monday evening. These gentlemen wanted to know the reasoning for the "no left turn" signs painted in front of the two driveways into the community parking lot. CouncDman Haynie and Police Pol-ice Chief Michael Ferre' explained ex-plained that signs were meant to prohibit the making of left hand turns into parking stalls on the opposite side of the street. Through some misunderstanding misun-derstanding with the painter, the signs were placed by the driveways into the parking lot. It was also mentioned by Chief Ferre' that at busy times during dur-ing the banks business hours that a traffic problem is created creat-ed when customers driving north on Main Street attempt to make a left hand turn to enter en-ter the driveway to get to the bank's drive-up window. It was pointed out however, that a moveable "no left turn" sign had been constructed to be put in the street during the busy hours. Mr. Jacobs reported that the bank would cooperate in any way they could to alleviate this problem, but requested that the patrons of the bank be allowed to make left hand turns to gain access to the parking lot. The council approved reviewing review-ing this problem and making a decision after this matter is thoroughly investigated. Alex Hunt, newly hired policeman, pol-iceman, was introduced to the council by Councilman Cornell Haynie, head of the safety department. de-partment. Councilman Haynie stated that Mr. Hunt was hired on Oct. 1 and in that short time has proved to be an effective policeman and an asset to the department. Walter Summers of the Global Glo-bal of Utah company met with the council to inquire if the city is interested in selling property which it owns near the rodeo grounds, for industrial purposes. purpos-es. Mr. Summers was told that this matter would have to be given additional thought and study since there is a proposed expansion of the ball park complex com-plex in that area and before property could be sold it would have to be ascertained if there is enough property for the proposed pro-posed park expansion. The purpose of this association is to meet each month and discuss dis-cuss common problems and to share information which will be of importance to the various cities in Utah County.
