Show Lindon City Council Meets to Pass Ordinance, Discuss Affairs The Lindon City Council met in regular session at the Lindon City Office, Wednesday, July 8, at 7:30 p.m. After council discussion it was moved Lindon City adopt Ordinance No. 21 on "Conservation "Conserv-ation of Values" as follows: Conservation of Values: The appearance and condition of premises has a significant affect af-fect upon property values, wholesomeness of surroundings and moral values. Accordingly the following regulations have been adopted. (A) The outside surface of buildings which are constructed construct-ed of wood shall be coated with paint or other wood preservative preserva-tive before such building is occupied oc-cupied or used. (B) Whenever a front yard is required, such yard shall be planted and maintained in lawn and shrubbery, except for walks and driveways. (C) Trash, weeds or other material liable to contribute to fire hazard shall not be allowed to remain on any lot outside of approved containers in any residential res-idential or commercial district, and no junk, debris, abandoned or dismantled automobiles or similar refuse material shall be stored or allowed to remain on any lot. Chief of Police Kenneth Harris Har-ris gave a police report on activities ac-tivities during the month of June. $155 had been collected on fines and forfeitures. Chief Harris also reported on his attendance at-tendance at the Police School in Vernal and felt it was time well spent. A telemetering plan for city pumps and storage tanks was presented and explained to the council. Mayor Stanley Walker suggested Councilman Wendyl Jarvis get the total cost of this project and make final plans to proceed with the telemetering telemeter-ing system. Mayor Walker suggested that he sign the letter from the State of Utah Law Enforcement for the purchase of a new radio, " which will be needed in the near future when the Law Enforcement En-forcement radios will be placed on a higher frequency. The Mayor also reported having hav-ing received a questionnaire from the EDA regarding the quality of work performed and the advantages the city and business houses of the city has derived from it. Mayor Walker said he would fill out the questionnaire ques-tionnaire to the best of his ability. Council members discussed a questionnaire from the Utah County Housing Authority regarding re-garding migrant housing and dediced there would be no need for national or local housing authority at the present. Councilman Paul Fage reported repor-ted he felt the city has made progress on the garbage collection col-lection problems. It was reported the fountain in the city park is broken and that it will need to be repaired. Dust problems at the park and means of elimination were also discussed. It was moved that the mill levy for fiscal year 1970-71 remain re-main at 23 mills. Motion was passed by unanimous vote. All Lindon citizens who have paid their garbage dues may receive a "refuse permit" by coming by the office and picking pick-ing it up. This permit wlil entitle en-title the person to haul anything any-thing that cannot be picked up by the regular collection and be admitted to the dump without with-out extra charge. At the budget hearing held on June 3, the following budget was approved by Lindon City Council for fiscal year 1970-71. Revenues: General fund, $691 669.75; Water fund, $43,699.22; Bond Redemption and Interest Fund, $12,128.61; Class C Road fund, $8,072.50; ' Expenditures are expected to be the same as revenues in each of the different funds. |
