Dr. Boyd K. Packer will be the speaker. New Stake Center to be Dedicated Sunday, Aug. 2 Pleasant Grove's new Stake Center will be dedicated at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 1970 according to Bishop Lloyd J. Walker of the LDS Second Ward. Elder Boyd K. Packer, member of the Council of the Twelve, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will preside pre-side and offer the dedicatory prayer. . Timpanogos Stake President Boyd L. Fugal will conduct the services and announce the program pro-gram consisting of the following follow-ing numbers: Talks by President Fugal, Bishop Walker and Bishop Glenn Phillips of the LDS 4th Ward. Music by the Timpanogos Timpan-ogos Stake Choir, directed by Leslie Rees and accompanied by Rosalie Jacklin and Catherine Cather-ine Rees. Violin and piano duet, James Walter Brock and Nola Jean Smith. Prayers, Lyle V. Thacker and Robert Davis. Principal address and dedication dedi-cation of the Stake Center, Elder Eld-er Packer. According to Bishop Walker, construction of the new religious relig-ious and cultural edifice began May 1, 1969 and was completed May 20, 1970. Contractors were the Rodrick and Howell Construction Con-struction Co. of Orem. The total cost of the structure struc-ture and furnishings was $500,000 with 70 per cent being furnished by the church and 30 per cent raised locally. One third of the local 30 per cent was donated by members of the Second and Fourth Wards and Timpanogos Stake at large The building is equipped with a chapel, a cultural hall, two bishop's and ward clerk's offices, of-fices, a stake president's office, a high council room, a relief society room, a junior Sunday School room, shower rooms, utility rooms, and 21 classrooms. class-rooms. The pipe organ in the chapel alone cost $18,000, Bishop Bish-op Walker said. All Timpanogos Stake members mem-bers and friends are cordially invited to attend the dedicatory services, President Fugal emphasized. |
