Show Police continue search for rape clues Park City police continue to seek clues in the Oct. 14 rape of a 36-year-old Park City woman. The investigation is proceeding pro-ceeding somewhat slowly, according to Sgt. Lloyd Evans, because the victim's assailant was wearing a mask. Other physical aspects as-pects of the assailant, like height, weight and hair color are also unknown. Some evidence, however, has been gleaned from the victim's automobile in which the rape occurred. According Accord-ing to Evans, the state crime lab turned up fiber and hair samples from the auto that could belong to the assailant. . During the inspection of the car, fingerprints were located lo-cated that might also belong to the rapist. Presently, Evans said, the Police Department is in- vestigating three suspects. He would not further comment com-ment on the suspects, except to say that one or more of them may be under 18 years old. Physical evidence from the suspects will be matched against thnt taken from the auto, Evans said. Thai evidence can be taken frorffl the suspects either upojj their consent or with warrant. Evans said thai such a warrant could bm procured only after "probl able cause" has been demonstrated. He would not comment on whether th suspects had voluntarily submitted to the tests. "The days o( . feeling secure in Park City are over," he said. z Women must become more aware and cautious o their surroundings, Evans, said. Additionally, women should pay more attention to locking cars and houses. , Evans said that he is also very concerned about women carrying firearms for self-protection. "It is highly unlikely that they'll be able to use a gun effectively," he said. "Chances are that gun will be used against them." t |
