I would suggest that if those parents asking for more money for quality education don't feel the need to . examine hiring policies of the school board, then it would seem that you . have what you've asked for. Now you can just take yourselves on down to the football field and cheer ! t J.M. Walker School board needs to change its priorities Dear Editor: With the current national interest in quality education, we must expect school boards everywhere to strike while the iron's hot and ask for more money. The problem, however, is not limited to lack of money. The solution is to a large degree in the hands of the school board, school administrators and their priorities! We have suffered through an extraordinary ex-traordinary turnover in teachers and administrators. We protested to deaf ears while the school board and middle school principal failed to renew the contract of the possibly finest teacher in the school. We endured years with a superintendent who proved weak and ineffectual in the job. We have installed in-stalled in the high school a principal more interested in athletics than academics employment based on the hope for a winning team . The school curriculum is very limited and this is of particular concern con-cern at the high school level. Advanced science and computer classes limp along. Language programs start and screech to a halt after a year or two, vocational programs are non-existent, and the basics are pretty basic.
