Show Mairlkettplla ggggsr Lido Gallery adds partner b y Randy Hanskat "I think Park City could be another Carmel, it's a vital place to be." The prediction of Park City's future in the art world was made by Janis Vida, a new partner in the Lido Gallery, located in the Brent Hill building on Reams Blvd. Vida joins Carolee Dewegeli in the partnership, coming to the Lido with 22 years of sales experience. She brings an optimistic marketing influence in-fluence to the gallery. That marketing influence comes from Vida's association associa-tion with Art Resources, Inc., which is run by Dewegeli 's brother, Don Hoffman. Vida worked with Hoffman in the Art Resources Re-sources sales force, and is currently involved with the marketing department. Art Resources recently started offering a marketing service to interested galleries. That service involves in-volves providing laser discs and viewing monitors to galleries who subscribe and become a part of Art Resources, Inc. On the discs is the inventory of every subscribing gallery. According to Vida, "This means it is possible to sell virtually any artist on the system." If a prospective buyer enters the Lido Gallery and wants to see more of an artist's work than the gallery has available, Vida or Dewegeli can use the laser disc to show other pieces that are in subscribing sub-scribing galleries. Selling can be done long distance. "The concept will be very important in the art world today," Vida said. "It gives me the accessibility to sell art from artists around the whole country." Art Resources has been offering of-fering their new service for about two months. "The response has been incredible," in-credible," Vida said. By the end of their first year, Art Resources plans to have over 1,000 galleries on the system, creating a vast inventory in-ventory for subscriber use. Vida said that several big artists have expressed interest in-terest in getting on the system, but she emphasized that artists must work through galleries. They cannot can-not come on independently. "This gives the galleries some power," she said. Vida also talked about some future Lido plans. A large show is scheduled over the Labor Day weekend, featuring the work of Lad Odell and Stan Johnson. The Lido plans to do some national trade magazine advertising ad-vertising to foster out-of-state interest. "We will be trying to bring some big collectors into Utah," Vida said. |
