Movies -"Love Crazy" stars William Powell as a man who is attemp- f Jv$ail ting to prove himself crazy. jfJlJA Myrna Loy and Jack Carson co- star. The film concludes the Salt Lake Library's Powell series. It plays on Friday at 2 p.m. (for 25-i l and 7 p.m. (for 50'). 205 E-500 South. -The Utah Media Center ends their Marx series for the month with "At the Circus." The brothers certainly belong under the Big Top, and among the highlights is Groucho singing "Lydia the Tattooed Lady " It plays on Saturday, July 30, and Sunday, July 31, at 7:30 P Following "Circus" on both days is the last film of the Luis Bunuel festival. It plays at 9:30. "That Obscure Ob-scure Object of Desire" is about respectable businessman Mathieu (Fernando Rey) who pursues the lovely Conchita and ignores the world of violence around him. Conchita is played by two women to show the gap between man's real and imagined view of women. Prices are $2.25 for one film, or $3 for the double feature. The show will begin at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10.25 in advance, ad-vance, and $12.25 on the day of the show. Tickets are available at all Datatix outlets. Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" will be performed per-formed in English at Temple Square on Thursday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The performance is at Assembly Hall, and free tickets are available at the North Visitors Center. No children under 8. The Jay Welch Chorale will perform "Broadway Hits for Choruses" in a Saturday, July 30 program at Snowbird. The 250-voice group will perform tunes from "Brigadoon," "A Little Night Music," and "Camelot" among others. General admission is $5. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. The jazz band "Spaces" will perform on July 31 at Snowbird, with cuts from their album "Border Station" and other music. The concert is part of the Sunday Series of Jazz. It begins at 2 p.m. and tickets are $3. The David Grisman Quartet will play a concert at Snowbird on August 2 at 8 p.m. Grisman, a mandolin virtuoso and composer, has worked with such artists as James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, and Stephane Grapelli. "Love's Labors Lost" plays on Thursday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. "Romeo and Juliet" follows on Friday at 8 p.m., and "Hamlet" plays on Saturday at the same evening time. The productions are accompanied accom-panied by a greenshow. Tickets are $5 for general admission, $4 for KAC members, seniors, students and Jcids under 12. The festival runs through Aug. 27. -"How the West Was Sung," a musical dinner-theatre dinner-theatre revue, plays at the Prospectar Square Convention Conven-tion Center. Dinner is at 6 p.m., followed by the show at 7:30. Runs Tuesdays and Saturdays through Sept. 17. The Egyptian Theatre continues its production of two plays by Park City Performances. The exhibit in the Peruvian Room is on display from noon to 8 p.m. $1 donation is requested. -The 35th annual Oriental Festival will take place on Juty 29 1 and 30, 6-9 p.m. at the Japanese Church of Christ, behind the Salt Palace at 268 West 100 South. Admission is 50 for adults and kids under 12 free. The festival will have Oriental food, exhibits, dancing, games, and a drawing on Saturday night for prizes. |
