Show Art Festival comes to Main Street August 6 & 7 ? . .. . On Augu.st (i 7. from 1(1 a m to 7 p.m., Park City's Historic- Main Street will'he transformed into an open air gallery featuring the work of over 200 visual artists participating par-ticipating in the 14th annual Park City Art Festival. Performances on two stages adjacent to Main Street will complement the visual art. Festival Director Sean Toomey said, "This year we have improved parking and shuttle bus systems and look forward to seeing more people being able to enjoy the arts in Park City." The exhibiting visual artists art-ists will travel from 23 states, including Florida and Hawaii, to display their work. Many types of artwork, art-work, from traditional oil painting to papier-mache sculpture, will be shown on Historic Main Street during the Festival. The exhibiting artists were selected from a field of 600 applicants by five juries, each composeu of five Utah artists. Many of Utah's finest per- forming artists will also participate par-ticipate in this year's Festival. The performances will be held at the Kimball Art Center Courtyard and the Treasure Mountain Stage on upper Main Street. A variety of musical styles will be represented, including in-cluding traditional, folk, classical, ragtime, jazz and swing. Performances by the Repertory Dance Theatre and the RirieWoodbury Dance Company will highlight this year's performing per-forming arts. This year, improved transportation trans-portation systems have been implemented to accommodate accom-modate Festival visitors. At Parley's Summit, Festival-goers should tune their radios to KPCW FM 91.9 for current traffic information. As they approach ap-proach Park City, visitors will be directed to free parking at the Park City Ski Resort and at Prospector Square. Free buses will shuttle shut-tle people from the parking i - lots to lower Main Uci'i. To oifset Festival transportation trans-portation and operation costs, adults will lie charged a $1 admission fee children will be admitted free, 'the Park City Art festival receives no cilv. state or tederal lundmg and is produced by the Kimball Art Center with funds lrom art ists' fees and the $1 ad mission charge. This year, the shuttle buses will continue con-tinue to run throughout the evening to allow Festival participants to stay and en ov ttie diverse activities available on Historic Main Street in Park City.
