Show Mtiiinairies Afton B. Henrick Afton Delean Barnes Henrick, 62, died May 17 in Loma Linda, California. He was born March 3, 1923 in Park City to Earl and Jane Van Horn Barnes. He is survived by son Paul Henrick and daughter Mrs. Lindsey (Leah Jane) White, both of Colton, California; brothers Ellno (Bud) Barnes, of Benicia, California, and Don Barnes, Colton, California; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by sister Eva Thayle Barnes. - Funeral service is today, May 23, at 2 p.m. at Olpin Mortuary in Heber City. Friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be in Heber City Cemetery. Hardy Oral Kofoed Hardy Oral Kofoed died May 15 of accidental drowning. He was 55. ' He was bom April 6, 1930, in Park City to Horace C. andRose Lindsay Kofoed. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary (4760 South State.) Interment was in Murray City Cemetery. Marion G. Fletcher Marion G. Fletcher, a member of one of Park City's most notable native families, died May 17 at his home in West Valley City. He was 75. He was born Nov. 17, 1909 in Park City to Axel Roy Fletcher. His mother, Blanche Weist Fletcher, lived from the days of the 1898 fire to the early 1980s, when she came to represent old Park City to many people. Marion married Afton MacDonald in 1931 and was later divorced. He married Nola Mae Cummings on March 27, 1937 in Heber City. She died on Nov. 25, 1982. He had worked in the Park City mines as a miner and was a former employee of the Tooele Ordinance Depot. He was a Park City volunteer fireman for 43 years and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. An avid fly fisherman and hunter, he belonged to many wildlife associations. He is survived by children Melvin Dan Fletcher and Mrs. Richard (Helen) Ricketts (both West Valley City) and Douglas Marion Fletcher (North Bend, Oregon); brother Melvin Fletcher (Park City); sisters Mrs. Gladys Webber, Mrs. Bert (Juanita) Love (both of Seattle, Washington) and Mrs.Martin (Bertha) Jorgenson (Chula Vista, California); 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Tuesday at the Olpin Mortuary in Heber City Burial was in the Park City Cemetery. Marjorie Janice Sweatfield Marjorie Janice Sweatfield died April 6 in Vallejo, California, due to an extended illness. She was 53. She was born on April 24, 1921 to Mr. and Mrs. William Flack. At age 13, she came to Park City to live with sister Maurine Foster.While attending Park City High School, she was in the high school band, and earned many awards for marching and secretarial skills such as shorthand. She worked in the Park City post office with the postmaster at the time, Jack Green. She met Howard James Sweatfield of Park City and married him on May 10, 1938. About 1950, they moved to Vallejo, California. Howard died on Dec. 20, 1970. The family still owns a home at 1259 Norfolk Ave. In a note to the Record, sister-in-law Jean Roberts said, "Marjorie came home to Park City every summer and stayed until the beautiful fall colors that she loved came and went." She is survived by three children, born in Park City: Lee Sweatfield of Vacaville, California), Michael Sweatfield and Jan Kerr (both of Vallejo). Other survivors are a sister Jerry (Vallejo) and a brother Bud (Albuquerque, New Mexico); a grandson; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. i |
