'Surrealism' Topic of Art Show made possible through the assistance of the Utah Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, Washington, D.C. A special lecture series on Surrealism will be held at the Salt Lake Art Center in conjunction with the exhibit, dates to be announced. The Salt Lake Art Center is open Tuesday through Sundays, Sun-days, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays and Symphony nights, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. There is a 50 cent admission fee to the "Open.. Door: Surrealism, Superrealism and Beyond-A Privant Collection." One of the most significant exhibitions ever to appear in Salt Lake City opens at the Salt Lake Art Center, 20 South West Temple, Saturday Satur-day February 28th. "The Open Door: Surrealism, Superrealism Su-perrealism and Beyond-A Private Collection" will be on exhibit through April 12. The exhibition offers the New York collector's choice of paintings by Rene Mag-ritte, Mag-ritte, Fernand Leger, Paul Delvaux, Man Ray, Lowell Nesbitt, James Havard, Andre An-dre Masson, Don Eddy, Jiro Tekematsu; prints by M. Escher, James Ensor, Joan Miro; photographs by Wee-gee, Wee-gee, Diane Arbus, Andreas Feininger, Ken Josephson, Kertcsz, Eugene Atget, Max Ernst, Eadweard Miiy-bridge, Miiy-bridge, Imogene Cunningham, Cunning-ham, Judy Dater (plus five new photographs recently added to the collection); drawings by Marie Lauren-cm; Lauren-cm; and mixed media by Christo. The exhibition surveys and explores the world of Surrealism Sur-realism with its focus on adventures into regions of the unknown. Surrealism relies on elements of pure chance nnci dreams to trigger a new or super reality. It existed as '-a movement during the period between the World Wars. Some Surrealists had visions of changing the world socially and politically and saw the use of art a:ul literature as "tools" in this societal transformation.
