' , Miner's Cup Races Open Park City Resort is geared up. for the Third Annual Miner's Cup competition to take place February 28 to March 3. This year's races will be two giant slalom and slalom all held on the Ladies GS course. Bob Marsh, program director for PC Ski Resort, said he expects strong competition with the Universities of Utah, Colorado and Wyoming present. "We strongly encourage everybody to come on up and take a look at it," Marsh said of this weekend's action. No Snow - No NCAA Unless the snowstorm expected Feburary 26 and 27 drops enough snow here, the NCAA Ski competition will be moved. The Alpine events are scheduled for the Resort and the Nordic events scheduled for Deer Valley. "If we don't get enough snow we'll have to change sites," said Roo Harris, Alpine coach of the host school, the University of Utah. "We're thinking of the Brighton Touring Center and either Solitude or Sun Valley as alternate sites." Ladies GS Run Closed In preparation for the Men's NCAA Skiing championships scheduled here next month, the Park City Resort will close its Ladies GS run until March 14. The action is being taken to preserve existing snow and to allow the steep run to be properly conditioned for the competition. During that time, snow will be hauled to the hill to patch thin spots and the course will be watered and iced. Hockey Battle On Tap The Park City Silver Kings will battle the Snowbird hockey team in a charity benefit Sunday, March 1, at 8 p.m. in th Salt Palace in Salt Lake. Admission is $1 and all proceeds will be donated to the Wasatch Backcountry Rescue. There also will be door prizes. Tennis Winners Twenty-four tennis buffs competed in the Park City Racquet Club's "Valentine's Choose Your Love Tennis Tournament" held Feb. 14 and 15, and Bill and Brenda Sport captured first place in the,"A" class. The Sport's defeated Harry and Sydney Reed In the finals. In the "B" class, Diane and Mike Vance beat D. Hunnewell and Tom McReynolds to take first place honors. Winners in the double elimination tournament were given dinner-for-two at Sneakers. Exercise Together ! Tired of Soaps? Kid crazy? Do you have cabin fever? If you feel any of the symptoms just mentioned, come to the Memorial Building on Friday. February 27 at 10 a.m. to exercise with your child. Stimulate your child's coordination, social awareness, and sensory perception at a clinic sponsored by Becky Burns, RN, and Kristin Schaub, BA in child development -- both qualified mothers. A parent must accompany the child and participants should wear comfortable clothing. Ages 0-5 years and the cost is 50 cents - additional children 25 cents. Coffee and refreshments will be served. Nordic Classes Offered Learn new skills or improve old ones in cross country skiing. Session II of cross country skiing starts February 26 at White Pine Touring Center, 649-8701 .
