Baseball and soccer seasons have already begun. . And excuses not to begin major spring cleaning jobs have also begun. But spring is a time somehow apart from all other seasons; when it comes to the subject of romance. Spring when a young man's thoughts turn to fancy or the San Francisco version: when a fancy's thoughts turn to young men.) It's the season of hand holdine and flower picking and dreaming thougnts ot love. Here in Park city the season of romance began a bit ahead of schedule last Thursday night. Jere Calmes and Randi Shellenburger of the Main Street Deli announced an-nounced their plans to tie the knot on May 2. Amid well wishers and champagne, the couple bubbled as they told friends their news at the Down Under. Eric, Erin and young Jere are reported pleased with their parents decision. on the proverbial Friday the 13th, the day he was to leave Park City for New York. Careful coordination with Don Gomes assured that Harry had a tuxedo to wear. The peguin suit from Came-lot Came-lot was carefully pressed and ready for it's big night out in The City. Harry left work Friday a bit early to have time to spend with his children before his flight out. Time quickly slipped away and Harry realized he was suddenly running late and no longer on his careful schedule. sche-dule. He kissed the kids, flew out the door and headed for the airport. About three-quarters three-quarters of the - way to the airport, Harry realized the tuxedo: was still hanging in his closet and he'd have to rent one after all. Once in New York, Harry grabbed a cab and told the driver to take him to the Regency Hotel. The driver spoke no English and an hour later Harry was deposited deposi-ted on the steps of the St. Regis Hotel. It was now 2 a.m. and Harry had lost whatever patience he had maintained thus far. Finding another cab at that hour was no small feat in New York, but Harry did. No sooner were they on their way when the cab had a flat tire. By the time Harry reached the real Regency Hotel very early in the morning, he had somehow some-how lost his usual cheerful demeanor. Nonetheless, Harry says he finally had a wonderful weekend. Including Inclu-ding a chance to see the play, "Children of A Lesser God." Hmm, wonder if there was a message there... And what about that man about town who looks like he could be Harry Reed's father? Well, he is: Dr. Reed. And in the Park City connection, case number 207. It turns out Dr. Reed was the doc in charge of the company run by now Park City local. Katherine Janka's father, deep in the heart of Delaware. Last look saw Katherine and Dr. Reed in a Park City style reunion. Small world ... The Park City Players will travel one more small step, to Monaco next weekend when they head -to Billings, Mont, for regional competition competi-tion in the community theater contest. The couple looked like they had stepped off the top of the wedding cake; Brent was attired in white tails and Liz lovely in a traditional white wedding gown. Liz, a former dancer with the Donny and Marie show, had to drag the reluctant Brent to the dane floor. The couple began a waltz and then Brent slowly led his bride to the side of the dance floor. Edna and Grant Schlettler, John and Jackie Craigle and Pat and Wayne Van Wagoner applauded ap-plauded from their tables ... Meanwhile out in the Big Apple, former '.Parkite Laurie Tisch was saying her I dos at the Hotel Regency while Park City folk, including includ-ing Shirley and Rocky Smith, Madeline Smith and Sidney and Harry Reed, looked on. The ceremony was lovely; the food fabulous, I'm told but for Harry Reed, it was relief just to finally be there. Problems began for Harry - |
