Show Post Office To Be Remodeled A major remodeling job is planned for the Park City Post Office, which according to one post office official, should increase services to local residents. Postmaster Brian Johnson said postal officials are anticipating increasing the number of postoffice boxes by more than 1,000. However, Johnson is not sure when the construction will begin. Contractors are currently awaiting the decision of postal officials before work can get underway. Johnson said the section of the postoffice where a stamp vending machine currently is located will be removed to make way for a hallway where the new post office boxes will be built. The postmaster said the extra boxes are very necessary. The post office now has 2,100 boxes, which he said, are not enough to service all Park City residents. The post office has a waiting list of approximately 100 people waiting to receive a bos, Johnson said. People who currently do not have a post office box receive their mail through general delivery, which Johnson said is normally used for transient people. Under normal situations, . people would only be allowed to receive mail by general delivery for a short period of time, but because of the box shortage, the nost office is relaxing the rules. |
