Show Stein Working with Deer Valley The Record learned this week that Stein Eriksen, who left his position as Ski School Director for Park City Resort in February, is actively involved in the proposed Deer ValleyLake Flat resort complex. Although no' official announcement announ-cement was ever made, Warren King, president of Royal Sreet Land Company, principle developers devel-opers of the new resort, told the Record this week that Stein has been "part of the team" since shortly after leaving his position with the existing resort's ski school. The news came as no surprise since the internationally known ski great was widely expected at the time of his resignation to eventually become associated with Deer Valley and King, his former employers when Royal Street owned Greater Park City Company. King objected to an article published last week in the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News, referring to Eriksen as his "assistant." King said Eriksen had no official title, since the proposed resort has no "organizational chart," but that he should be referred to simply as "part of the planning team." Eriksen's involvement will include in-clude providing his expertise in the designing of the resort's ski runs and serving as "host" for guests on the mountain. As the resort develops, said King, Eriksen will probably be involved in marketing, as well. The $200 million resort received receiv-ed masterplan approval from the city this summer. Providing a financing package is arranged, which King said he hoped to have completed by January 1 , construction con-struction should begin next spring. The resort is scheduled to open in the fall of 1979 with eight lifts and a 4000 skier per day capacity. When completed, it will include approximately 22 lifts, two base runs, a golf course and an estimated 1800 housing units. |
