Committee Formed The Utah State Historical Society is parent agency for a new organization which will meet monthly to evaluate place name changes in Utah. Formed in 1975 by the Utah Board of State History, the Utah Committee on Geographic names was strengthened streng-thened by an Executive Order issued by Governor Calvin L Rampton in January of 1976. In addition to his executive order. Governor Rampton appointed ap-pointed Mr. T. Joe Sandoval. Mr. Lacee A. Harris, and Mrs. Helen Papanikolas to the previously pre-viously existing membership ot Dr. David E. Miller, Chairman; Dr. Jay M. Haymond, Executive Secretary; Mr. Theron Luke; Mr. Earl Olson; Mr. Jack Headley; Mr. Kent Malari; and Mr. John Van Cott. The work of the committee, which meets every first Thursday at the Historical Society Mansion, is to act as liason between the U.S. Board on Geographic Names and persons and groups in Utah who wish to name geographic features or change names of a geographic feature.
