Show aptitude testing Why should you take an aptitude test? Your interests are beginning to come out, and your future is just around the corner as a career person. An aptitude test can give you ideas and information about your talents. The ASVAB is a good test to help identify your individual aptitude. iNo matter how you choose to live, and what you plan to do, success has to be earned. There is a lot of hard work and effort put into a good career and you may need the knowledge to work it out successfully. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a series of nine tests developed to help measure your skills and abilities in several vocational-technical vocational-technical areas. Your results on the tests are put into precentile scores for the following areas: GeneralTechnical, Motor Mechanics, Mech-anics, General Mechanics, ClericalAdministrative, Cler-icalAdministrative, and Electronics. Elec-tronics. How long does the test take? You're in the testing session about two and one-half hours. which allows time for handing out forms etc. But the actual time that you'll be taking the test is one hour and fifty two minutes. What about results? Within 30 days after testing, your results will be in your school counselors office. Your five composite scores will be on a card with a brochure that will explain them. How much does the ASVAB cost? Nothing. The test is given as a free service by the Department of Defense because they want to help you make better career decisions. Do I need to prepare for the ASVAB? There is no training or preparation needed to take ASVAB. The test wants to show you the abilities you do have for certain careers, so you know how much training you will need, for that occupation.
