Show : from rJtc flrcltmEs v i 00 Kears 4go ... : From the Park Record June, 1880 (Due to the fire of 1898 which destroyed nearly all of the town's records, there are only sporadic issues of the Record available for 1880.) The Ogden Junction, Provo Enquirer and Salt Lake Herald . have been very zealous in presenting their respective advantages for the location of the Territorial Insane Asylum. Summit County has advantages superior, to others from the fact that we have such an immense.scope of unoccupied lands . that would afford ample playgrounds for the unfortunate - persons with feeble and shattered minds. We were cognizant of this fact from the first, but did not wish to make mention of j j the matter for fear that the committee might consider our y r advantages preferable to that of Weber, Salt Lake or Utah . Counties, and locate the Asylum in Summit County. That v. would be too uncomfortably near for our peace and happiness ' ' and we think our brother quill drivers with a moment's . reflection will look at it in the same light we do. . - . Fifty Years Ago ... The Park Record January 10. 1930 We call your attention to the fact that Betty Compson in "The Street Girl" to be shown at the Egyptian Theatre next Monday and Tuesday, plays a part in this -talkie" similar to that done by her some years, ago when she appeared in person on the stage of the old Dewey Theatre with a Salt Lake Dramatic Company with whom she started her career on the entertaining platform. Rapid progress has been "made by this Utah girl since then, and today she is recognized as having a voice wonderfully adapted. to the new "speaking' pictures." To our recent arrivals in camp and new patrons of the popular , show house, we gladly inform you that Betty's father, now deceased was at one time an employee at the Daly West Mine and her mother, a popular "girl" in the personnel that made up the roster of attache of the old Park City Hotel, wHich occupied the same space as that now covered by the New Park Hotel.
