Show Historic Grant Applications Applications for the 1980 Historical Preservation Grants-in-Aid will be accepted until February 1. 1979. at the preservation pres-ervation office of the Utah State Historical Society. According to Wilson G. Martin, Mar-tin, preservation development coordinator for the,. Society, preservation grants may provide pro-vide up to 50 percent of the cost of restoration and development develop-ment of historical, archeologi-cal. archeologi-cal. or cultural structures or sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Some thirty to sixty grants-in-aid are awarded annually to local governments, private organizations, or-ganizations, and individuals. Grant projects must be in accordance with National Register Reg-ister criteria, which lists recommended rec-ommended procedures for res toration and renovation. The state's hitoric preservation preserva-tion office recently awarded one such grant-in-aid in the amount of $5,000 in matching federal funds to Jonathan Sweet for rehabilitation and restoration of the Lewis Hill residenceHogar Hotel, 126 South 200 West, Salt Lake City. The grant, to be matched by the owner, will be used to repair and replace damaged cornices, trim, guardrail and windows and to repair the front porch of the structure.
