Show Volunteer of the Month J f s f (4 I -- 1 By Marsha Svmonds "Arranging Tennis times and luncheon dates were all I had to worry about once," says Gerry-Sue Gerry-Sue Eriksen, now part of the Chamber's volunteer team. Because a crisis situation developed, de-veloped, prohibiting Amanda Peterson, the Chamber's Director Direc-tor from attending work, Gerry Sue stepped into the midst to help with (he Snowflaker's Ball and employee's Workshop, one event happening right after the other. Gerry soon became buried bur-ied amongst request mail and after a day or so emerged with most of it answered (with the exception of a new file entitled 'Crazy People to Answer'.) Answering Ans-wering the telephone, greeting tourists and helping to organize the endless little details that go with a dance all came so naturally natural-ly to Gerry that she actually forgot she had a husband to attend to. (He remembered she forgot thanks Stein!) Gerry's personality certainly had an influence on the office with a new sign she posted in the entrance "No Smoking Please." With a fresh new face for the tourists, she had an opportunity to put her two bits in on how she felt about the town especially in the way of selling it's Park City flavor. One day, Gerry found a fork in the file under F so in turn she initiated a new section under D entitled 'Dumb Volunteers.' Another day. Gerry tripped over the telephone cord, fell onto a chair which collapsed and in turn sent her crashing into the filing cabinet, so we see that volunteer work is not without hazard. All in all Gerry seemed to enjoy her volunteer stint, however, how-ever, she is currently convales-ing convales-ing in Aspen but will soon be back, occasionally, to help at the Chamber. We think from Gerry-Sue's experience that there might be others in the community that would enjoy helping at the Chamber. Thanks for being a Chamber volunteer Gerry. We had fun; we think you did too, and you really did help the Chamber and community out. Gerry Sue Eriksen |
