Show off the record What was your reaction to the City Council's decision to restrict parking to the East side of Main Street only? t s Kitty Glover employed at Car 19 I think on a trial basis, it'll be worth the effort. Half the time you have to drive all the way up Main Street and come back down to park, anyway. Swede Alley is my parking spot. - ' i Randy Thomson owner of Miner's Delight I think merchants want more parking, not less parking. I would suggest two-hour parking park-ing on Main Street, fifteen minute loading areas at bus stops, put a second shift for clearing snow at night when there's no parking on Main Street, and have bigger signs indicating parking in Swede Alley. ,.j- ... .... f,- X ' - t Alvin Young long-time Park City resident I think it's rotten.- For my business (Young Apartments), it doesn't make any difference; but for the good of the town, they need to park all cars on Main Street. It's necessary for business. If they went with two-hour parking on Main Street, they'd open Main Street up because cars would have to move on both sides of the street. This one-way parking will hit businesses hard. How can the city get a true picture of oneway one-way parking on Main Street when they do it right during the heaviest time of the year? And they're going to take it for only a 30-day period. A ' v. L , f Rhea Wilkinson manager of Mount Air Variety Store I don't know about parking on one side only. If they're going to go with one-way parking, they should do it on both sides of the street. They've got to improve Swede Alley parking. Right after it snows, there's no way you can - park there or walk through the alleys to Main Street. Jerry Duke manager of Day's Market Most people aren't going to cairy their groceries two blocks to Swede Alley. Parking is essential es-sential for the grocery store and one-side parking is cutting it in half. Kenneth Sessions post office employee As long as they park in Swede Alley, I don't think it'll be too bad. |
