Show POLICE BLOTTER he got it "one piece at a time" A thief who apparently heard Johnny Cash's "One Piece at a Time" too many times picked up a few spare parts last week. Last weekend, a windshield was dismantled and stolen from a 1950 military jeep parked on Park Avenue. On Sunday, a Volkswagon engine was stolen from a residential garage on Pacific Avenue, where numerous spare auto parts were stored. The engine was valued at $200. Last Monday, a battery valued at $50 was stolen from a 1968 Mustang parked in an open garage at the Three Kings condos. The thief reportedly cut the battery cables, lifted his charge and sparked away. 1 a shattering experience The mad window-breaker was at it again Saturday night. At approximately 8:45 p.m. a rock was thrown through a $250 plate glass window at 1360 Empire Avenue. Fifteen minutes later someone shot out a window in the Three Kings condos with what appeared to be a pellet gun or a "22." Damage was estimated at $30. Residents were inside their houses during both incidents, but could find no signs of the culprit nearby. booze burgled A burglary was reported early Thursday at Rosie's Delicatessan. According to reports, the front door had been pried open but apparently no money was taken. No list of missing inventory was available at press time. Police are investigating. a little pick-me-up A 1955 Ford pick-up sustained $500 damage Saturday when it was dragged into the Timberhaus parking lot by a semi-tractor-trailer. According to reports, the pick-up was parked, unoccupied, at the bottom of Main Street when the semi rounded the turn from Heber Avenue up Main and hooked onto the pick-up's front bumper, dragging it up the street and into the parking lot before the driver noticed the excess baggage. No damage was reported to the semi. |
