Show Resort Announces New Training Center Lift Plans According to Park City Ski Corp. officials, a second ski lift will be built at the Park City resort this summer providing pro-viding access to the National Training Center runs on King Con ridge. The Resort also plans to build an additional lilt opening up the excellent powder bowls in Jupiter Jupi-ter Basin as previously announced an-nounced last Fall. Preliminary plans indicate that the Training Center lift will extend up from a base at the termination term-ination point of the runs formally for-mally controlled by the Ski Team to an area just below the ridge. Ski Corporation President Ray Johnson said there still exists a remote possibility that the new lift could be forstalled if delivery of a Swiss gear box is not possible pos-sible in time for the '76-'77 ski season. The gear box was ordered Monday after Saturday's decision to go ahead with the lift. Original plans called for the gondola's capacity to be increased in-creased this summer opposed to the Training Center lift which was tentatively scheduled for the summer of '77. Johnson has definitely indicated that the gondola's skier capacity will be increased next year, becoming be-coming operable for the Novem-- Novem-- ber '77 opening. Although a name has not been chosen for the new lift, Johnson said it will probably be reflective of the U.S. Ski Team. In conjunction with the lift, an intermediate run will be built near the terminal providing an easy access off the mountain from the King Con Ridge. It also appears that the Training Train-ing Center Lift will have a favorable fav-orable effect on Bill Coleman and Harry Reed's plans for a lift connecting the Main Street commercial district with the major resort area. Previous plans for the Main Street Lift called for a dog leg like system of two lifts running to the top of Payday providing access to the Crescent chair and the rest of the mountain. With the resort's new facility, access to the main ski area will be provided at a lower elevation ele-vation giving way to a shorter, less expensive, single facility connecting from the Main Street . |
