Show Squirts Tie For Second Park City's Stephen Holmsen and his mighty band of 10-year-old hockey players traveled to the Regional Championships in Portland, Oregon on March 19 and split victories with Los Angeles before bowing to a super Seattle team that swept the opposition. Stephen's Salt Lake City Squirts won their opening game against Los Angeles. 3-2, but any dreams of the Nationals were quickly dispelled when Seattle dispatched the outmanned Salt Lakers, 14-4. The second meeting with Seattle produced a 15-2 loss, and, in the final Los Angeles game Salt Lake led 3-2 with four minutes remaining, only to be tied and then beaten in overtime, 4-3. The entire Salt Lake team is to be commended not only for being the first ever from this area to make the Regionals, but also for playing so well against hockey-conscious hockey-conscious Los Angeles. Congratulations, Stephen and teammates! Wait till next year! |
