Show seems to lift a finger to get them that way. The mothers always seem to be running around solving the kids' problems prob-lems (with never a mistake, of course) and the maids do nothing but peel onions and lift the lids of empty pots. THE KIDS' ROOMS are always al-ways neat beds always made and even if they are sitting on a bed, the spreads never get mussed. Boy, I could enjoy living in a house like that. The whole thing bothers me, though. Just what kind of opinion will foreigners get of us if they think we always live in fabulous houses, wear new clothes and never have problems that can't be easily solved in a 30-minute segment? All is not lost for TV, however. how-ever. Have you seen this winter's new show "All in a Family"? NOW THERE is a show made up of real people. The man is domineering, loud-mouthed, bigoted and nasty-tempered along with being slightly bull-headed. bull-headed. The wife is sensitive, nervous and obviously loves the old man in spite of his imperfections. It's more like real life, for nobody no-body can love perfect people, they make you too uncomfortable. uncomfort-able. Here's hoping they keep at least this ONE show going so those of us who aren't lucky enough to be perfect can enjoy laughing at ourselves once in awhile. Mary Bee Bees WAXING bv Mary Bee HAVE YOU SEEN a TV 'family show" lately? Do they make you wonder where the writers found a family to use as a model? I mean everyone is so darned PERFECT. Have any of your boys ever come home from school to announce an-nounce they had a fight, with all the buttons still on their shirts and no torn pockets? My son usually looks like the aftermath after-math of a major disaster even when he wins. How about the show where the little 6-year-old girl comes home with every hair in place and her dress spotless? I can see why the mothers in these shows always look so rested they don't have to do any washing wash-ing and ironing, their kids are so perfect. AND TALKABOUT integrity-one integrity-one show I saw had the little sister catching the older brother broth-er smoking a cigarette. The girl fretted and fumed for several days before she finally decided she wouldn't be out of line if she told her parents par-ents because it would be for the boys' own good. Not my kids-even kids-even if they only think they have a chance to tattle on each other they can't get home fast enough. Then when the boy was confronted con-fronted with all the evidence against him, he denied the whole crime. Did the father and mother lose their temper and holler and yell at him for adding lying to the original crime? No, with everything against them they looked the kid right in the eye and told him they believed him. He had never lied to them before, therefore they believed him now. NOW THERE are a set of parents! par-ents! I mean who can believe that strongly in a kid? Or take the fathers they are always even-tempered, always have things under control, always al-ways make the right decisions and NEVER come home from work tired and crabby. (Maybe they don't work very hard). On top of that, father is never late for supper and if he must be unavoidably delayed, he ALWAYS calls home. Boy, that must be where the kids get their integrity. And those houses always clean, shiny and no one ever |
