incorporation OF A LABOR UNION new york aug 29 president shatter of the amalgamated association in response to a telegram from the world asking him if he contemplated ithe incorporation ot the amalgamated association replied 1 I do not know of any law in this or any other state that will allow the incorporation of a labor union speaking as an individual ah u not as an I 1 see no reason why the amalgamated association should not be incorporated it we could get a charter the delegates to our conventions or the members at large think differently fervently ly the only labor union that ever was incorporated was the old knights of labor and it was incorporated by a special act of congress this is not generally known to incorporate the amalgamated association it would be necessary to petition the legislature to enact a law allowing it to go before congress f ora special act neither body is in session now
