Show HUDSON AVENUE HAS BEEN CLEARED But little remains to bo done in the razing of the buildings on Hud-eon Hud-eon avenue and the street builders, were they ready, might begin their work tomorrow morning. The principal prin-cipal buildings have been taken down and tho contractors are now tearing down tho east end of the large skating skat-ing rink that faces Grant avenue and a small frame house that stood ' In tho path of the avenue. Excavations Excava-tions of buildings hnve not yet been filled and It Is understood that they will not be filled until after the sewer mains have been laid and the exca- ration work for the laying of the as-phaltutu as-phaltutu has begun Contractor Mo-ran Mo-ran was expected to have been hero and ready for business this morning, but ho failed to come and it Is now likely that nothing will be done on either Washington or Hudson avenues until next Monday: It is contemplated contemplat-ed that the Washington avenue paving pav-ing will be dono first. Building operations in different parts of the city are progressing nicely, nice-ly, the woather being particularly propitious for the construction of buildings and it not bolng difficult to get workmen and material. At the Mattson building on Lincoln avenue nnd Twenty-fifth street, the concrete men have encountered considerable water In the engine pit of the basement, base-ment, and It has become necessary to use a pump to remove the water 1 so tho men can work. David Maule stated yesterday that the roofs, are on tho Lyceum and his business block near Lincoln avenue on Twenty-fifth street, and that the work on the interior of the buildings Is moving along rapidly. He states that there will be no cessation of operation until btth buildings are .ready for use, and the work can be prosecuted now whether Jt rains or whether tho sun shines. It is now all Indoor work. |
