Show uo PIONEER OF THIS STATE DEAD John Martin Stoddard, one of the pioneers of Utah, died at his home In Roy Wednesday afternoon at 1;;!M. Drlphl's disease wa.s the cause of death, tho decedent having suffered from the malady for the past year. Mr. Stoddard was born in Peoria, 111. July 10, 1S::0. When but a boy bis' parents jolni'd the letter Day Saints and moved to Nauvoo. In tho fall of 85i the family started westward west-ward and arrived In Salt like City, Octolcr 15, 150. On the sixth of June 1 SOS, Mr. Stoddard married Miss Mary Jane Triost, the wedding taking place In the old endowment house. Some time later the couple moved from Salt Lake Cltv nnd for twenly-four years they made their home in Hooper. Hoop-er. After a short residence in several of the smaller towns In Utah and Idaho, Ida-ho, the family moved to Roy, where they had resided for the past two years. The deceased is survived by seven sons and two daughters, and by twenty-one grandchildren. The funeral services and interment will be In Hooper. Sunday, but the time has not been set and will bo announced an-nounced later. (HI |
