Show oo TOAST WILSON IS EXT PRESIDENT NEW YORK. Dec. 14 Woodrow Wilson, governor-elect of New Jersey, and Martin E. Littleton, Democratic representative-elect from Theodore Roosevelt's home district, were speakers speak-ers tonight at the annual banquet of the Southern society, of New York. John A. Dlx, governor-elect of New York, was a guest. Mr. Littleton spoke on commerce and the country. President McAdco Introduced Mr. Wilson as one of the four meu who had kept faith with Ihe American people Abraham Lincoln, flrover Cleveland and Theodore Roosevelt being be-ing the others mentioned. 'You have drunk the toast to a president of the United States." he continued "We will now drink a toast to the future president." Dr. Wilson sat sinlllDg whi'e the toast was drunk and rose to deprecate it "If I dbl not remember who I was yesterday." he said, "I should not know who I am today, in view of very recent happenings. I don't know my destination, and I have ho much to do Just now. that I don't care when I land, .so long as I land on some people's peo-ple's necks." |
