Lyon of Salt Lake, in which ho Is charged with a statutory offense against a youns womau under the age of consent. con-sent. Ann Phillips, a young woman under the ape of 17 years, whose home is at Provo, is the complainant. It is alleged in the complaint that the crime was committed in Salt Lake City, July 25, 1S10. According to information obtained by County Attorney Lyon yesterday, Anderson brourht the Phillips girl to Salt lake from Provo after he had ingeniously formulated plans for her downfall. It is claimed by the county , attorney's office that Miss Phillips is' but one of five girls to whom the Provo Pro-vo city attorney has given attention of a lamentable character. Anderson Gives Bail. "Anderson hud sought young women wom-en Inclined toward the reading of certain cer-tain kinds of literature bordering upon classics." said County Attorney Lyon after the complaint had been llled In bis office. "He tried to interest inter-est his victims In this kind of literature, litera-ture, which, according to his arrangement, arrange-ment, tended to pol?on their minds. On July 25 he brought the Phillips girl to Salt Lake and Is alleged to have mistreated her." Furnl6hes Bail. Anderson gave bond in Provo last night in the sum of $2,000 and was released until the date for his hearing In So It I-ake is set. This Is the second time that Ander-son Ander-son has been arrested for an offense against Miss Phillips. Recently he was made defendant in a suit for divorce di-vorce by his wife, who alleged illic.t relations between her husband and Miss Phillips. I,atpr Jesse Knight denounced the attorney In a public speech at Provo, and this was followed by the filing of a $:0,iini) damage suit .against Mr. Kn.ght in this city by Anderson. Close upon the heels or this action Anderson was arrested in Provo upon a complaint signed by Miss Phillips" mother, charging him with a statutory offense against her daughter. Auder-son Auder-son was released under bonds In tho sum of f2,oou and is still awaring a hearing on that charge. |
