Show PRIZE CONTEST ON HOGS m VEALS A prize contest on hogs and veals was yesterday pulled off at the plant of the Ogden Packing & Provision Co., and the affair wits a gu-at success. The object of the company in offering jrlzes Is to encourage the hog raising Industry in the surroundl-.g country, and at the same time educate the farmer to raise the most prolltable as jjell as tho most deslrah'.e hog for 1 ackipg purposes. After the judging of the livestock, a special lunch of packing bouse pro ducts was Indulged in. A number ot rtilroad officials and many other people peo-ple from the city attended, and the ordinary cutting room of the packing plant was appropriately Jocorated aad turned into a banquet hall. So as to get the best kind of breeding breed-ing hogs, and also in order to be In touch with hog raisers of this coni-rninity, coni-rninity, and through tho association with similar eastern organizations, tho company proposed lhat a swine-breeders' association be organized, and they offered to give it financi-il support. All the farmers were enthusiastic about tho project, and they were informed in-formed that similar prlzea would be offered by the company during December, Decem-ber, and at that time it Is hopej the Swine-Breeders' association of Utah nay be formally launched The prize winners were r.s follows: For the best and fattest hog from 2 )0 to 300 lbs.: n.
