Show orio hundred times as great as atmos-'pherlc atmos-'pherlc prcsHure. which la 14 7 pounds 'to the square Inch. This would briug the t'fts pressure up to nearly l.oOO pounds to the squaro inch, and under tweh pressure each car could carry In the neighborhood of lO.OiiO cubic feet of pas. The Rag would bo released from tho car pip06 at Salt Lake a.nd.pfarotl in storage tatiki under a prtasureof fourteen atmospheres and from these niospherlc pressure, and from, ihee tanks the smaller tanks of tho train would be filial Beginning this week the plant Is pro d 11 cine four times as much gaK an It formerly produced, and it Is producing it without any more cost of production produc-tion than the smaller quantity. Tho fmmc number of men will be employed and tho material for making the pas will cost no more Formerly flvo tons of coal were burned every day for heating- the furnaces and furnishing power for the pumping of the pas. Now no coal will be consumed, for the by products of the oil, from which the Kas Is "made, will bo utilized to supply the heat and power necessary to run the plant. With the Tuachlnery which bas recently been installed at tho factory, there is practically no waste at nil. Formerly there wag a pas pitch which it was necessary to dispose of. This was burned up outside out-side the plant, and the heat which Its combustion afforded was carried away on the winds. The pitch Is still formed In the making of the pan, and it Is disposed of by burn in sr. but there Is not a unit of in heat wasted. A 125-horsepower boiler, which will be used to furnish power for th? pumps, will be put in place next week, "as the excavation for the bare bas already been started. It Is likely that the size of the building- will be somewhat enlarged before spring, as it will be necessary to install a number of high prossuro pumps for the loading of the pas cars, and there Is but little room to spare In the building as It now measures. PINTSCH GAS PLANT IS LARGER i The Pintsch gas plant is now manufacturing manu-facturing gas by the new process known as the low pressure generator system, and nearly all of the improvements improve-ments planned have been completed. Because of the additional capacity of the plant, It Is expected that early In the spring gas will not only be furnished fur-nished to the roads reaching Ogden, but to the lines entering Salt Lake City. According to George Lochhead, manager of the plant, the increased capacity of tho factory will bc so great that the product will be shipped to Salt Lake City and furnished to the San Pedro and Westeni Pacific Hues. The shipping of gas, such as Is intended, will be cui a large scale. Special gas tank cars will be needed. These cars will have to be a mass of coiled pipes, each jplpe .capable of holding a gas pressure of over two thousand pounds to the square Inch. Into the pipes will be forced the Pintsch product under a pressure of one hundred atmospheres. One hundred hun-dred atmospheres means a pressure |
