Show COPPER PLAYERS SETFAST PACE Thrilling 3 to 1 Tilt Goes to Home Team When Magna Fails to Solve Jerry Dunn's Twisters. Baty Features. Fea-tures. The Utah Copper baseball team took undisputed possession of second place in the Copper League Wednesday Wednes-day .afternoon when Jerry Dunn let the Magna lads down with eight scattered scat-tered hits, and turned in a 3 to 1 victory. " Jerry was in great form, his fast one, and his twisters baffling the entire en-tire Magna team, with the exception of Swan, who laced out a single and a double. His control was close to perfect, and with men on bases, the opposition had but little chance. Robbins, who received such a severe se-vere lacing on Utah Copper Day, took the mound for the visitors, and dished out a nice brand of ball, holding hold-ing the Miners to 9 hits, although his own wildness accounted for one of the runs scored. Errors paved the way for the initial run against him. The feature of the game was the brilliant work of Jack Baty of the Copper team. Jack had seven chances during the afternoon ,all difficult, and he handled them like a big leaguer. Three times he crossed second base to make the assist ,and one resulted in a double play, one of the fastest of the year. He made two catches of short flies in left field, robbing the players of hits, and all in all his per-formance per-formance was one of the best ever seen on the local lot. LedinghanT with three hits led the assault for the home club. Magna registered the first run of the game in the fourth when Myers beat out an infield hit. Swan, in trying try-ing to sacrifice, set a neat bunt down the first base line, and had passed the -pillow before Dunn could get to the ball,1 Myers in trying for third on the play, was nipped, Dunn to Buckle, who . ran the Magna shortstop down on the line, Swan talcing second. Archibald Ar-chibald sent a Texas leaguer to, center, cen-ter, and Swan scored with ,thc lone Magna run when Egbert singled to left. -- : ' The Copper's first run which also came'in the fourth, was a gift. Whitley Whit-ley was safe when Nielsen juggled his roller. Hall sent him down to second with a neat sacrifice. He went to third on Baty's out, and scored when Self missed Ledingham's pop up. The last two runs of the game came in the fifth when Buckle singled to second, stole second and scored on Santistevan's sweet single to right. Santy took second on Dow's out, went to third on a wild pitch, and on the next ball scored with another disastrous disas-trous throw by Robbins. It was a great game to look at, and showed "Giniker" Jerry in his old time form, a condition the fans of Bingham Canyon have been waiting wait-ing for these many days.
