Show SCHOOL TO OPEN 0NAUGUST31 s Many New Features to Greet Pupils' of Bingham Canyon High School When Roll Is Called for the Fall Semester. Schools of Bingham Canyon will be opened for the fall term on Monday, August 31st, according to an announcement an-nouncement made during the past week. The work of cleaning the building has been nearly completed and according to advices all will be ready when the first bell rings two weeks, from this- coming Monday. Many new changes have been made in the general curriculum of the high school. Surveying, Electrical training train-ing and a machinist course having been added, according to Principal H. R. Atkin, who declares that a close survey of conditions in Bingham Canyon Can-yon has resulted in training the older boys of the school in work which they will probably adopt in later years. It was stated that many new teachers teach-ers will be an hand when the fall term opens, most of the changes being made in the elementary grades. In the high school the following teachers will be in charge: Mrs. Edna Ed-na P. Wade, English; Mrs. A. C. Cole, English and Social Science; Mr. Thomas McMullin, Physical Education, Educa-tion, Mathematics and Biology; Mrs. Madeline Waldis, Shorthand, Bookkeeping Book-keeping and Typewriting; Mr. J. Byron By-ron Birch, Mathematics, Chemistry, Electricity and Surveying. Miss Ver-na Ver-na Skanchy, Home Economics; Mr. Jesse. Woodhouse, Auto Mechanics and Machine work. Miss Geneva Langlois will be in charge of the Physical Education for the girls, and also have charge of the Oral Expression Expres-sion classes. Miss Langlois, who takes the place of Miss Aliceile Higgs, is a graduate of the University of Utah, and for the past three years has been associated with the, schopls of Nephi. Mr. John McMorris, also a newcomer, taking the place of Professor Pro-fessor Irwin Jensen, will have complete com-plete charge of the music of the school. Mr. McMorris comes to Bingham Canyon highly recommended, recommend-ed, having made a most enviable record rec-ord in the schools of Kansas. In the Junior High, there will be Miss Caroline Rasmussen, Miss Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Horsley, and Miss Wilma Hurl-burt, Hurl-burt, the latter taking the place of Miss Margaret Heywood, who is now located in California. The elementary grades have many new teachers this year. Miss Blanche Larson will be one of the first grade teachers, taking, the place of Mrs. Powell. Pauline Phillips will return to her first grade room, while Miss Cook's place, this year will be filled by Miss Emma Sirrine, who will also have a few second grade pupils. The Misses Elida Garrett and Rosetta Hailing, both of last year's staff will have second grade students. Two new teachers will be in charge of the third grade, Miss Luella Schultz taking the place of Miss Alta Miller, and Miss Irene Martinsen taking the place of Mrs. Cushing. In the fourth grade will be Miss Bessie Hammill, of last year's staff, and Miss Verda Rasmussen who will take the place of Mrs. Maud Stillman, nee Welch. Miss Lily Carter taking the place of Miss Lilas McColeman will be in charge of the' fifth grade as will MissD'On Ashton. LaMar Holmes will be seen in charge of the sixth grade pupils, to take the place of Mr. Rust, and Mr. Robert Payne will -also have a sixth grade to fill the vacancy left by Miss Velma Heywood. |
