Show f.ll HJW AT THEUGOOR i The Mill Hands outing yesterday at Lagoon proved a most decided success suc-cess both from a standpoint of attendance at-tendance and the highly enjoyable time experienced by all who attended. The first train load ol excursiouists left the Bamberger stitlon at 10:30 and for a number of hours following, extra trains were run to accommodate the thrones who desired to take ad vantage of the outln and join in tho fun making. The Ecclcs mill hands were largely renponsible for the arrangements for the outing and it . was also they who issued the various challenges for foot, racing, tug-o'-war and other HthlHic sports Despite their enthusiasm and 1 boasted prowess, the Ecclcs crowd came off a poor second in nearly every event on the card, the swimming swim-ming prize alone falling to one of their number. The shooting match ; was an interesting event, as consider- ' able rivalry existed between the Ecclcs Ec-clcs mn and their opponents. The latter, however, proved the best, marksmen and were awarded the prizes. i The main feature on the program was the tug-o'-war. thp Ecclcs strong men being pitted against a team of pullers made up of men from the Hutnphrls and Whltmeycr mills Tho contest was a strenuouH one and both sides pulled valiantly for victory. The Ecclcs boys did not lack In gilt as much as they did in pounds and were finally yanked across the line and held there until the call of time Their opponents captured two pulls out of the throe. The evening was passed in dancing in the pavilion, which closed the festivities fes-tivities of the day. It was one of the best outings held this year at Lagoon |
