Show OFFENDERS IN POLICE COURT In the criminal division of the municipal muni-cipal court this morning J. Salamoana a .lap, was represented by an attor- i ' ney and trial was continued for an Indefinite time. The defendant is I charged with lewd and lascivious con-! con-! duct, allege,! to have been committed , July Sth. The man has been placed j under a bond of JG0 for his appear-I appear-I ance for trial which bond ho furnished furnish-ed In cash. Susie Brown, a colored lady, was before the court on the charge of vagrancy. She pleaded not guilty and a hearing of the case was had. P. J. Jensen, a young man, stated that yesterday he was appointed a special officer for the city, and, during dur-ing the evening, while he was making mak-ing the lonnqs of the city in guest, of offenders, he met Susie on one of the back streets. She proposed that, they "take a walk." In fulfillment of j what he considered his duty as an of- fleer, Jensen said he consented. bt made it a iwlut to walk with Susl I toward the police station. They had not gone far when Susie began talking to him in a manner that was not altogether becoming a lady, and he finally advised her that she was nder arrest. "The wagon was sent for," the young officer said, "and the woman taken to jail and 'booked' as a Aag rant." Susie said she did not know the ! young man was an officer and that she did not think there was any wrong in walking along the street with him. She said she vas not unfamiliar un-familiar with jail life, it having been less than a vseek since she was released re-leased from the city bastlle, Mhere she served ten days for vagrancy, and she also stated that she had been in Ogden for a number of months without with-out having any particular vocation. "I guess we will have to protect these young officers," said the judge,, "so it will be well to place the woman wom-an in Jail for at least ten days."
