Show out of ue to work Friday afternoon for reasons which the aviators thought would be easily overcome, but the troubles were not so readily fixed as was at llrst expected. Saturday afternoon the big propellers propel-lers were started and the machine ran across the field, but w'ould not take to the air. Apparently it did not get : up enough speed and was too heavy. I Several efforts were made, but each time the machine refused to rise. Finally a last hard e.fnrt was made. With Dourls Davis at the wheel, the engine was turned on full force and started across the runway. As Fpeed was gained the big machine rose from I the ground and even body thought U was going up. Hut with more sudden-ness sudden-ness than that shown in the rise into the ah, the nose pointed downward the runners plunged Into the dirt and the mach'ne turned turtle. The top plane was particnlly demolished demol-ished and the ship damaged otherwise. Davis w;ih iml hurt.
