Show CUBA ENJOYING GREAT PROSPERITY New York, Feb. 15. Alfred Zayns. vlce-presldont of Cuba, who expects to have a talk with President Taft late today, gave crit a long statement regarding conditions In Cuba before leaving New York for Washington this morning. The statement soys In part: "Cuba is prosperous and well. Sanitary San-itary conditions are better than ever and our death rate last year waa the lowest or any country in the world. "Business In Cuba is increasing rap-Idly. rap-Idly. We have record crops of sugar und tobacco, and our fruit trade is gaining very fast. The financial condition con-dition of the republic Is excellent. "Cuba feels nothing but friendship for the United States. It is full of gratitude to the American people and the lltt'e breezes of accusation against our ability to govern ourselves, that sometimes tickle the ear, do not give us a chill. Wo havo good advisers and hhall bo able to find our road without making any mistakes of serious consequences." |
