Show LINE FROM OGDEN NORTH APPROVED Oregon Short Line Will Build From Saline, West of Here, to Burley, Idaho, Thereby Cutting Off 75 Miles to the Northwest Country Road Will Be 175 Miles Long. Word has been received that the Oregon Short Line has definitely approved ap-proved of a new line to extend from Saline, on the main Hue of the Southern South-ern Pacific system, to Burley, Ida., a distance of 175 miles, which, when constructed, will shorten the line between be-tween Ogden and the northwest full 75 rnlles. Surveyors have been at work on various routes for a long time, but not until this week has a definite route finally accepted Tho acceptance of the route by no means indicates that the lino wiil be constmcted this year; In fact. It is officially stated that the work will not be under taken until next year at the very earliest. With the completion of the line from Saline to Burley, traffic from here to Portland will be routed from Burley la the new line from Rupert, to Bliss, there connecting with the main line to Oregon points. This route will be completed In the near future and will give the Short Line system a double track from Minidoka to Bliss The building of a cut-off line from Saline to Burley will put Burley on the main line. With a branch now b?-ing b?-ing constructed from Burley to Oakley, Oak-ley, which will bo completed within "0 to CO days, the line from Minidoka in operation, and with an electric lln proposed from Burley to Albion, Bur-ray Bur-ray will shortly rank as one of tho railroad centers of Idaho. Work on the Oregon Short Line s extension from Moreland to Aberdeen Is progressing favorably. It Is hoped to hae the track completed as far as Plngrec within :'0 or 40 days, and the remainder of the lino will be rushed as rapidly as consistent. Another lino shortly to bo built will be the extension exten-sion from Moreland north In the Big Lost river country. |
