Show SIX SMALL BOYS ARE PICKED UP BY POLICE All Apparently Had Run Away From Their Homes Without Parents' Knowledge. 0 Salt Lake.March 25 Six little boys, tanging In age from 3 to 14 years, v.ero picked up by Patrolman J. J. Riley at the Oregon Short Line depot shortly before 11 o'clock Wednesday evening, while attempting to boara the baygnge car of No. 9 over the Ore-Son Ore-Son Short Line for the norlh. Tho boys were traveling. It developed, in two distinct parties of three members each. Patrolman Riley noticed three small boys hanging around tho baggage car, and uton inquiring of them where they wore going, they told hlni that they wore on their way to Black tool, Ida., and that their homes were m Eureka. Tho officer took them to th baggage room at tho station and was there met by the baggage clerk, who Informed him that three othtr little boys were also hanging around the train. Patrolman Riley found them and they told him they were on their way home to Bountiful. He took this trio to the baggage room alo and sent for tho patrol wagon and the two parties were taken to police headquarters. The boys from Eureka gave the names of Stanley Householder, nged 10 years; George Gra3 13. and Horatio Mowen, 13. and slid that they woro on their way to young Gray's sister's home in the Gem state. When they left home, they said, they bad $5, but had spent it for candy and eatables. When asked ask-ed how they were planning to get to Blackfoot they informed the police they had intended riding In the baggage bag-gage car. They said that they had been informed that they could get work in Idaho Falls, and had lert without with-out the consent of their parents. The boys from Bourftlfiil. whose names are Willie Lee, aged 9 years; Howard Phillips. 11. and Marmus Wright, 13. said tbey had come to Salt Lake WeJneeday morning to obtain work. They declared that a man by the najne of Carl Walker had promised prom-ised them jobs, but when they arrived they failed to iind Wallser and were stealing their way home when found. The six youngsters were placed in the boys' ward at the city Jail. Immediately Lieutenant John Hem-pel Hem-pel notified the officers or both Bountiful Boun-tiful and Eureka and they promised to find the boys' parents and take the matter up with them. , |
