Show PASSENGERS IN PULLMAN CAR ROBBED IN YARDS AT WEST DENVER Robbers Drag Negro Porter Out of Berth Threatening Him With Death If He Made Outcry, After Which They Hold Up Other Occupants of Car, and Make Their Escape With Four Hundred Dollars in Cash Woman Passenger Not Disturbed. Denver. March 25. Two highway-m'-n entered a Pullman car in the Denver anJ Rio Grande yards at West Denver early today, held up the passengers, pas-sengers, six in number, and tho conductor con-ductor and porter, and got away with about $100 In cash. The only woman passenger. Mrs. X. R. Hussey, of Rooth Day Ilarbor, Maine, was not molested. The car was part of Denver & RJo Grande train No. 4, which was held .up Ht Military Junction a few weeks ago. Tho train was several hi.un late in reaching Denver, and the passengers of the Pullman were not ' awakened, but the car was backed down Into the yards at West Denver to wait until morning. About five minutes after the engine had been detached, de-tached, James F. Bruce, the negro porter, por-ter, was dragged out of his berth by two masked men. who threatened to kill him if he made an outcry. One of the two men stood guard over Bruce, while the other awoke the occupants of the car, lined them up with the porter and searched them. X. R. Hussey of Booth Bay Ilarbor, Maine, was relieved of $89. Mrs. Hussey Hus-sey was sleeping in an adjoining berth, hut in response to Mr. Hussey's pleading, she was not disturbed. William Wil-liam N. Wallace of Muscatine. Iowa, was relieved of $142; C W. Griffey, of the Alia Mining and Smelting company, com-pany, of Florence. Ariz., was relieved of $110, and A. W. Forest of Columbus, Ohio, gavo up about 100. The robbers took nothing but mon- i cy. After completing their work, the robbers marched the passengers, con- i ductor and porter Into a compartment at one end of the car, closed the door upon them and then mshed to the other oth-er end of the car and Jumped off. i |
