Show JAMES A. THOMPSON, A PIONEERPASSES AWAY James A. Thompson, aged 86 year., a pioneer resident of Weber county, died at 11:451 last night, at the ramtly residence, 1067 Twenty-fourth street, of cancer. The deceased was born in Glasgow, Scotland. August 15. 18-'!. He became a member of the Latter-Day Latter-Day Saints' church in 1842. emigrated to Utah in 1860. He resided in Salt Lake nineteen years, where he, was connected for several years with th-3 Deseret News as foreman and also in the editorial department. He was foreman of the first daily paper published pub-lished in Utah. He moved from Silt Lake to Eden in 1879, and resided there until 14 years ago, when he removed re-moved to Ogden. He was superintendent superinten-dent of Sunday schools at Eden lor 14 years. April 18, 1863. he wan mnr-rlcd mnr-rlcd to Christina Llndaey, who aione survives him. He was a member of the High Priests quorum of the Weber Stnk'i at the time of his death. Funeral services will be held Sunday Sun-day at 2:30, at the Fifth Ward mteir lng house. ! Remains will lie In state at the home, Sunday, between hours of 10 and 1. Burial in City cemetery. |
