A meeting of the council of administration admin-istration of the Grand Army of the Republic Re-public of Utah wU"l be held In Salt Lake tomorrow for the purpose of arranging ar-ranging for a state "encampment. This encampment will .be entirely separate sepa-rate and distinct from the national encampment, which will be held In the capital city next August; but will serve as a sort of forerunner to the national gathering of the old soldiers. It is said by a member of . the governing govern-ing board that the state encampment will likely be held In the month of May at either Salt Lake or Proo. There are five posts of the Grand Army in Utah, two In Salt Lake, one in Ogden, one in Provo, and another in Park City. The administration council for the state Is composed of these members: L. B Derby, of the James B. Mc-Kean Mc-Kean post, No. 1, Salt -Lake. B. F. Bair, of the Dix-Logan post, No. 3, Ogden A. H. Follng, of the W. S. Hancock post. No. 4, Park City. William Crome, of the George K. Maxwell post. No. 5, Salt Lake. James Williams, of the W. T. Sherman Sher-man post, No. 6, Provo. These men will tomorrow decide when and where the state encampment encamp-ment of the grand old soldiers will be held this year. The idea prevails with the board of control that the state encampment en-campment will be held prior to the. time of the holding of the national h campment at Salt Lake, so that the Grand Army men may get together before be-fore the great event and thereby aid very materially in- arranging for the entertainment of the visitors in Au- gust. The old soldiers are all aglow with enthusiasm over the prospective national encampment, and they are so Imbued with the matter that it 13 very likely they will almost forget everything every-thing else but the idea of making preparations pre-parations for the national encampment, encamp-ment, j |
