Show CHARLES C. SLADE IS SUMMARILY DISMISSED Order to That Effect Is Received by Postmaster Thomas From Washington. Salt Iake. Jan. 28 Charles C. Slade, for twenty-eight years connected connect-ed with the local postofllce, and for fifteen years superintendent or city delivery, Is no longer connected with the poBtofllcc in any capacity. Formal notice has been received hy Poslmas-I Poslmas-I ter Arthur L. Thomas Trom the oiuco of the postmaster general In Washington Wash-ington that Slade has been removed from the service because of having been arrested for embezzlement and rifling the malls. His successor baa not yet been appointed. Slade was) arrested by Postofllce Inspectors In-spectors McKeo, Durand and Lowe, and on tho evening of January 16, after af-ter the Inspectors had caught him in the act of opening a number of letters, let-ters, and taking $25 from one. When taken into custody, Slade is said to have confessed to the Inspectors, and later signed a written confession of his acts. He Is now out on $3,000 bail, awaiting the action of the federal grand Jury, which will consider his case at their April bitting. |
