Show SKATING PARTIES. An excursion was run to Salt Lake City last evening to accommodate those who delight in roller skating. Since the closing of the local rink the giving of skating excursions has been advocated by "those who wvuld rather frkale than eat," as ono of the. enthusiasts enthus-iasts expressed it. At last they have succeeded In obtaining special railroad rates and the diversion promises to continue at intervals all winter. If our people must have their skates on, some way should be provided to keen them from going to a distant city to spend their money. With a big: local auditorium rink idle and one hundred or more Ogdenltes buying railroad tickets to Salt Lake to gain the privilege of entering a rink In no way better than the one at home, there seems to bo a waste of money and time simply because of an absence ol local ambition at being self-contamea or at making the best of Ogden's resources. re-sources. A skating rink properly conducted should prove an inviting place for any one and, with tho demand great enough, en-ough, as these excursions would Indicate, Indi-cate, some efforts should be made to continue that kind of a wholesome pastime pas-time in this city. |
