Show IN DARK PLACES. . Here Is a suggestion, to our city administration: ad-ministration: There are1 sections of the city where the arc lights fail to reach, to dispel the gloom of dark nights. The city cannot afford to enter very extensively upon a policy of extending ex-tending tho arc system, but by placing posts of metal or wood at the points most in need of Illumination, and placing thereon the new 200-candlo power tungsten lights, which can be operated at a cost of 50 per cent Iobs than a cluster of thirty-two-candle power lights of carbon films, excellent results, no doubt, will bo obtained at comparatively little expense.-r expense.-r There are dark centers of blocks in the residential, and even business, section sec-tion of this city, which should bo lighted. With these large tungsten globes, placed on posts ten or twenty feet Ugh, there would be an appreciative appre-ciative service performed for the people peo-ple in those districts and the turning of night into day would facilitate the work of the police. ' Lights of this kind would prove to bo sentinels of the night. |
