Show TEMPERATURE FALLS AS . . HIGH WIND ABATES Omaha, Neb., Jan. 29. Although the wind which swept Nebraska and ad-Joining ad-Joining states had partially abated tonight, to-night, the temperature had fallen below be-low zero. Reports began coming In tonight from outside cities and towns which gives the storm precedence as a record breaker. Nearly every portion por-tion of the state heard from reports heavy winds and many places say houses 'were unroofed. A new three story theater lost Its roof, at Dorand Island, two business blocks were seriously damaged, and several buildings were practically destroyed, de-stroyed, while at Lincoln, the damage was great. It 1? estimated that $50,000 will not cover the loss in Omaha. Tho wind had not abated tonight and still blew at a rate of 42 miles. Telegraphic Teleg-raphic and telephone companies had little opportunity during the day to repair their shattered wires and communication com-munication with outside cities is still limited to a few scattering telegraph and telephone circles. |
