Word having been received from Judge Murphy In Nevadarto the effect that he would be unavoidably detained for a few days more. Judge Bagley conened a session of police court the first session held this yenr and disposed of tho accumulation of drunks, vags . and petty offenders which held over from one day to another an-other awaiting the return of the court. The new municipal clerk, I. N. Fulton, officiated for the first time and did so in a very creditable manner. lane Miller, who was arrested for drunkenness the day before New Years, but who was released Tuesday under the Impression that she had ex jdnted her offense, wn hack In Jail this morning tagged with the old charge of drunkenness. She was reported re-ported "not presentable" and given a line of $5 or five days. He said his name was John Cox and that ho had been drunk. The complaint was "made over" to fit the gentleman and he was given a suspended sentence of ninety days and an order to vacate the city. C. Pumphreys was not present to answer to the charge of drunkenness, but the court being informed that his bondsman wa6 on hanj at an earlier hour, the Judge ordered the case continued con-tinued under $5.00 bonds. James Dykster, Elling Mathiason and John Doe were charged with drunkenness and forfeited their bail deposits of $5 00 each by not appearing appear-ing in court. Frank Mason. Ray Collins, Fred Smith and Will Douglas were arraigned arraign-ed on the charge of vagrancy. They entered pleas of guilty and were given giv-en suspended sentences' of ninety day s and an hour to get out of town, with the exception of Douglas, who said he was not yet IS years of age. He was turned over to the Juvenile court. Hans Wiggins, charged with vagrancy, va-grancy, was ordered held pending an investigation and the filing of another charge against him. Mamie Freed, Sebena Vena and Mascot Durrani forfeited bail to tho amount of $10.00 each by not appearing appear-ing In court. Tack Ferguson, charged with disturbing dis-turbing the peace, plealed guilty and was given a fine of $3.00 or five days. D. G. Carr. W. P. Ray and George W. G. Thompson, charged with disturbing dis-turbing the peace; W. Nagel. charged with obtaining money under false pretences, pre-tences, and Robert McGuire. charged with assault and battery, were not brought to trial, but will be presented at an early dale |
