Show CONFERENCE IS HELD ON MATTER OF MEAT State Food and Dairy Commissioner Meets With Packing House People. Salt Lake. Jan. C. Fifteen meat men from oer the stato met State Food and Dairy Commissioner John Peterson in his office in the City and County building Tuesday afternoon and discussed means to secure the inspection in-spection of meat, both before and after killing. Representatives of the two packing companies in Utah, under government gov-ernment Inspection, tho Ogden Packing Pack-ing company and the Utah Packing company of Bountiful, were present and threw considerable light upon the situation. At tho close of tho meeting, Mr. Peterson, who was chosen chairman, selected a committee of seven, with him self ex-oflitio chairman, to work upon a bill to be presented to the legislature legis-lature to compel the Inspection of all meats, before killing and after. The committee consists of four wholesale meat men and t'aree retailers. Another member from Logan, and still another from Provo, will be added to this committee com-mittee later on. Beforo going much further along tho lines mapped out, another meeting will have to bo called, the date to be fixed later, at which two government govern-ment meat Inspectors will be called In for Ideas upon the subject, Mr. Peterson will meet with dairymen dairy-men and butter dealers this afternoon to 80cure better sanitation of milk and butter through a hill to be presented to the coming legislative session. |
